Series: Today's Elegant Manners and Customs
Picnic, 1897 - Lovely scene of beauties enjoying a picnic to view the cherry blossoms. At left, a beauty prepares to break off a flowering branch. At right, a girl and a woman kneel on a red orange mat, a lacquer bento box containing refreshments nearby. Kimono are draped over a red cord tied to the tree to provide privacy for the group. A charming design, beautifully colored and detailed, with burnishing on the women's hair and silver mica accents on the black kimono, the girl's floral hair ornament, and the title cartouche at upper right.
