Prince Genji and Beauties Viewing Cherry Blossoms, 1854
Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji and his companions on an outing to view the blossoming cherry trees. He looks up with a grin as he admires the flowers, a young girl serving as a page at his side, holding his sword upright. At left, a kneeling matron holds an elegant lacquer tobacco set, while the beauty behind her carries a container with blue and white porcelain cups. A lake stretches across the background, with a small island at left ,and pine trees along the far shore at the foot of the mountains. An attractive design, detailed with embossing on the white kimono collars.
