Original Bakufu Ohno (1888 - 1976) Japanese Woodblock Print
Comments - Charming scene of a woman kneeling on the verandah of a farmhouse in prayer, making offerings of tall Japanese pampas grass and rice dumplings for Jugoya, the Full Moon Festival. Two small children stand in the road outside the farmhouse. The warm yellow light spills from the shoji windows, silhouetting a cow or ox at right, a charming detail. The full moon illuminates the edges of the rooftop and tall tree with yellow light. A wonderful image of this annual event that also celebrates the harvest. Published by Kyoto Hanga-in with publishers seal in right margin.
