Ceremony at the Imperial Palace
From Fuji Arts' Winter Exhibition of Chikanobu
Ceremony at the Imperial Palace - Beautiful triptych depicting a ceremony at the Imperial Palace. The Meiji Emperor and Empress stand at right, surrounded by the ladies of the court. In the center a beauty approaches carrying an offering tray stacked with graduated sake cups, the woman kneeling below her holding a sake server. A table covered with a blue floral cloth holds a tray with a miniature pine tree, red blossoms, and a small turtle with a flowing mossy tail. A vase nearby holds a colorful arrangement of peonies and cherry blossoms. The verandah overlooks a view of the rive, with blooming cherry trees on the opposite shore. A terrific Meiji era image with lively color and excellent detail.
