Shunsho (1726 - 1792) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Comments - Attractive scene of a beauty sitting at a low desk, composing a verse with a brush in one hand and a sheaf of paper in the other. She rests her chin on her hand as she looks absent-mindedly off into space, a misty moon visible through the open shoji window. The cloth-covered table holds a stack of books, rolls of paper, an ink stone and mixing slab, and a container of brushes, while a folding screen behind her features a design of bamboo. The colorful autumn foliage of a maple can be seen at bottom. A charming subject with a finely detailed setting, seldom seen in reprint.
