Frightened Beauty by Kuniaki (active circa 1844 - 1868)

Original Kuniaki (active circa 1844 - 1868) Japanese Woodblock Print
Frightened Beauty

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a frightened beauty scrambling backwards on the ground, throwing her hand before her in self-defense. One sleeve of her blue kimono is pushed down to the waist, revealing a red tie-dyed robe. Her long hair is pulled back into a thick ponytail tied with ribbons, a few locks falling over her shoulders. Rugged mountains beneath the evening sky create a dramatic setting. A handsome design, nicely detailed with burnishing on the black obi and collar.

Artist - Kuniaki (active circa 1844 - 1868)
Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. A couple small repairs. Please see photos for details.
