Prince Genji Viewing a Scroll, 1852 by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Prince Genji Viewing a Scroll, 1852

Comments - Attractive scene of Prince Genji and his companions viewing a scroll at his mansion. At left, a matron holds the top of the panel, while the beauty in the center unrolls it to display a scene of three figures playing a game of go. She smiles happily at the young nobleman, who grins back at her at right, dressed in a grape patterned kimono. Beautiful detail in the household setting and elegant furnishings, the room opening onto a view of the garden framed by colorful autumn maple leaves.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)
Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28 3/8" + top margin as shown
Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. A couple small holes, repaired. A couple light creases. Please see photos for details.
