Practicing Flower Arrangement on New Year's Morning, 1847 - 1852
Comments - Beautiful palace scene of beauties practicing flower arranging on New Year's morning. In the foreground, a young woman kneels beside a tray holding a blossoming plum branch and red camellias. The woman behind her carries a large shallow basin. The room is exquisitely furnished with a fine lacquer stand at right holding scrolls and stacks of books, and a window overlooking an ancient plum tree in bloom at upper left. Beautifully detailed with burnishing on the black lacquer basin, stand, and window frames, and embossing on the white kimono trim.
