Beauty Tying an Obi by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty Tying an Obi

Comments - Lovely portrait of a beauty tying an obi, looking over her shoulder as she holds a towel between her teeth. She wears an olive green kimono patterned with cherry blossoms over a red under robe, her hair pulled back into a smooth bun tied with ribbons. At lower right, a mirror sits atop a black lacquer makeup chest, and a crumpled up robe lies on the floor at left. At inset in the shaped of an open book features Genji symbols, flowering wisteria, and vines with heart-shaped leaves. The first time we've seen this attractive design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)
Image Size - 14 7/8" x 10"
Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. A few small marks. Please see photos for details.
