Original Kunisada III (1848 - 1920) Japanese Woodblock Print
Tea Ceremony in Autumn
Comments - Lovely image of beauties attending a tea ceremony on a moonlit evening. At right, the hostess uses a water dipper to pour water into the tea bowl on the floor before her, a whisk and tea caddy nearby. Her guests sit quietly around her, while at left, new visitors arrive at the garden gate. Just inside the fence, a beauty kneels beside a water basin to wash her hands, the woman behind her carrying a lantern. A full moon glows yellow in the night sky above a lovely pond, while a persimmon tree covered with fruit frames the scene at right. A beautiful design with wonderful detail in the clothing and the setting, including fine bokashi shading on the background.
