The Ninth Month; Benkei Moat, 1872 - Amusing scene from Ikkei's comic series "Twelve Months of Famous Places in Tokyo," featuring comic incidents taking place at various locations in the city. Here, a kneeling man cries out as the bottom of his wooden pail of flowers drops out, water rushing onto the ground below. His companion reacts with alarm while at beauty strolling along at right pauses to look back over shoulder at the commotion. An entertaining design from this rarely seen Ikkei series.
