Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Azuma Bridge, Asakusa
Comments - Handsome view of the impressive modern steel Azuma Bridge over the Sumida River in Tokyo, which opened in 1887. The imposing structure towers over the crowded deck, which is packed with pedestrians. Boats can be seen on the river below, moving goods along the water. On the shore at left, a couple rides in a rickshaw, and at bottom center, a young girl and her mother pause to watch it pass. A great look at the first steel bridge in Tokyo, with a striking composition.
