Hagawa Okinobu (active circa 1736 - 1741) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Celebrated Places of Edo Enclosed in the Outline Character Ju
Comments - Fascinating image of famous places in Edo depicting within the outlines of the character "Ju." Subjects include street scenes, a temple entrance gate with guardian figures, a bridge over a river with boat traffic, and large Buddhist deity. The print is detailed with metallic gold flecks. A terrific design from the early years of hand-colored prints. A rarely seen subject.
