Winter Stroll by Kiyonobu II (active circa 1720 - 1760)

Kiyonobu II (active circa 1720 - 1760) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Winter Stroll

Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Handsome kabuki print of a couple walking through the snow, the man carrying an umbrella. He scowls at his companion, but she smiles up at his sweetly, lifting the sleeve of her outer robe to keep it out of the snow. An attractive design from the early years of color woodblock prints, accented with metallic gold on the umbrella.

Artist - Kiyonobu II (active circa 1720 - 1760)
Image Size - 13 1/4" x 6 3/8" + top margin as shown
Condition - Excellent overall with no issues to report.
