Kiyomine (1787 - 1868) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Beauty with Shamisen
Series; A New Publication of Modern Flowers for the Four Seasons
Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.
Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.
Beauty with Shamisen - Lovely design of a beauty adjusting the string of her shamisen. She kneels against the black lacquer shamisen box, the instrument stretched across her lap and a look of concentration on her face. Her blue and pale gray cotton kimono flows around her in graceful curves. The title cartouche features blooming iris coiled in a circle. A classic Edo era beauty image that would make an attractive framed display.
Artist - Kiyomine (1787 - 1868) Image Size - 15 3/8" x 10 1/4" + margins as shown Condition - Excellent overall with no issues to report.
