The Garden of the Palace of Toba Tenno, 1885 - Interesting scene of two men and a page in the garden of the Emperor Toba's palace. They are gathered under a blossoming cherry tree, delicate pink petals showering down over the ground. In the center, an agitated man delivers a message, gesturing with his hand. The samurai behind him hides his face behind a folding fan, a bow in his hand and an array of arrows at his back. The two men wear straw leggings over delicately embossed white pants. A young page stands at left. Nicely detailed, with an attractive landscape setting.
