Each print features a renowned woman from Japanese history or legend, from the poets Ono no Komachi and Sei Shonagon, to the legendary woman warrior Tomoe Gozen and Princess Matsu-ura Sayohime, who turned to stone while waiting for her husband to return from Korea. A charming series, beautifully detailed.
