Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Kaminari Shokuro and Gokuin Senemon, 1857
Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the otokodate or street knights Kaminari Shokuro and Gokuin Senemon beneath a blossoming plum tree, each holding an umbrella. At upper right, Shokuro looks over his shoulder with a frown, his brows furrowed, while Senemon looks up at him with a slightly worried expression. They wear matching violet kimono bordered with grasses over red under robes, tied with checked obi. A handsome design with soft shading in the background.
