Beauty in a Heron Coat, 1861

Comments - Lovely portrait of a beauty in an interior on a winter day. She wears a black coat patterned with herons and falling snow against a night sky over a blue kimono decorated with maple leaves, and a red under robe. She smiles as she looks to the side, her hand held to her face beneath her robe. The room opens onto a view of a garden with a pine tree blanketed with snow. An attractive design, nicely detailed with burnishing on the black areas of the coat.
