A Hokusai Album - Beautiful design from a three volume series of Hokusai's nature, people, and landscape sketches titled "A Hokusai Album" (Hokusai gafu). These inventive scenes range from snow-covered mountains and colorful blossoms to figures from history and legend. Drawn with wonderful calligraphic brush strokes, these lively compositions are highlighted with soft color in gray, pink, and pale blue. A great example of the variety and depth of Hokusai's subjects and his incredible talent. A terrific choice for a collector of classic ukiyo-e.
