The 47 Ronin, Act 9: Yuranosuke's Country Retreat at Yamashina - Incredible scene from the famous tale of the 47 Ronin, showing the lovely young Konami, about to be killed by her mother Tonase. When her daughter was rejected as a bride for Rikiya because a bribe by Konami's father, Honzo, allegedly led to Lord Hangan's death, Tonase vowed to kill herself and her daughter in atonement. Just when she is ready to strike the blow, she is distracted by the sound of a wandering monk playing the flute outside the garden gate, who turns out to Honzo in disguise. A dramatic moment with the beauty clasping her hands in prayer as her mother stands over her with a sword. A wonderful image from this classic story, with handsome burnished detail.
