Kintaro Riding a Bear and Yamauba by Nobukazu (1874 - 1944)

Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Kintaro Riding a Bear and Yamauba

Comments - Terrific image of the wild boy Kintaro riding a bear, an enormous axe over his shoulder. Yamauba, the woman at left, raised Kintaro on Mt. Ashigara, where he learned to communicate with animals and became known for his amazing strength. The child smiles at his companion, who carries a walking stick and has a load of brushwood tied to her back, a mantle of leaves over her shoulder. At right, a waterfall cascades down the hillside. A great portrait of this folk hero.

Artist - Nobukazu (1874 - 1944)
Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Stain at corner. Please see photos for details.
