A Board Game of the Road to Iga Pass, Act 6, 1847 - 1852 - Handsome depiction from Act 6, Numazu, of the kabuki play "A Board Game of the Road to Iga Pass" (Igagoe dochu sugoroku), a drama about a samurai who avenges his brother's death through a surprise attack on the murderer as he travels through Iga Pass. Here, the kimono merchant Jubei encounters the porter Heisaku while traveling through Numazu. They discover that they are actually father and son, long separated, and on the opposing sides of the vendetta. Heisaku kneels on the ground with an alarmed expression as he holds out a container called an inro. Jubei scowls at him angrily, while a couple peers through the trees in the grasses at left. An interesting atmospheric scene from a rarely seen series.
