Arrival of an Imperial Messenger at Kagoshima - Interesting scene from the Satsuma Rebellion of a general waiting for the arrival of a messenger at Kagoshima. He sits on red chair, looking intently to the side, wearing dress uniform, including a black jacket with fringe epaulets and a sash across the chest. A man in traditional dress sprawls on a chair in front of him, while two soldiers in uniform can be seen at upper left. Nice expressive figures.
