Hojo Yasutoki and Retainers, 1864 by Yoshimori (1830 - 1884)

Original Yoshimori (1830 - 1884) Japanese Woodblock Print
Hojo Yasutoki and Retainers, 1864

Comments - Interesting scene of the daimyo Hojo Yasutoki and his retainers atop a high cliff. The general sits on a folding stool at right, surrounded by his men, each wearing full armor and ready for battle. In the center on a plateau below, a castle is surrounded by a moat, with the standards of marching troops visible above the trees. At left, another group of samurai is gathered atop a cliff, watching as a fleet of ships approaches the rocky shore. An intriguing image with an unusual perspective.

Artist - Yoshimori (1830 - 1884)
Image Size - 14" x 28 3/4" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few wormholes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, a few marks, folds at bottom edge of one panel. Please see photos for details.
