Original Miyashita Hisanori (1922 - ?) Japanese Woodblock Print
Fuji Arts’ special acquisition from Momose - This print is from a beautiful group of limited edition prints recently acquired from the archives of the publisher, The Momose Print Company of Tokyo. We purchased the entire balance of the publisher’s limited-edition inventory of all designs. They are only available on the secondary market and have become increasingly difficult to find. The prints were originally offered in a shin-hanga limited edition promotion from Momose. The Shinsui and Kaburagi beauties were sold for 280,000 yen each (approx. $2,750).
Comments - Beautiful shin-hanga scene of a beauty peering around the edge of a shoji panel, her sleeve held to her chin. A blossoming cherry tree frames the scene above, with a few petals drifting down through the sky. Beautiful handling of the shadow on the panel and the sheer comb in the beauty's hair. Includes gold mica accents on the kimono trim and obi, and with a dusting of gold mica along the right edge of the figure, creating a soft glow as if coming from a light inside. This limited edition print is numbered 96/200. A rare large format design.
