Original Kokunimasa (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Ichikawa Danjuro as Ishikawa Goemon, 1896

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro as the famous robber Ishikawa Goemon, striking a pose with one foot atop the red railing of the lower gate at Nazenji Temple, his sword in one hand and the other thrown up beside his head. He wears a black kimono with a burnished geometric pattern over a red loincloth trimmed with fringe that swings with his movement. The figure appears in an inset against a bright yellow background with a blossoming cherry branch. A handsome design.

Image Size - 14" x 8 3/4"
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small tear at edge, small hole, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
