Original Ikeda Terukata (1883 - 1921) Japanese Woodblock Print
Series; Brocades of Edo, circa 1910
Wisteria Blossoms - Attractive portrait of a beauty leaning over a verandah railing draped with red-orange cloth. She looks over her shoulder with a slight smiling, a folding fan in hand. Wisteria blossoms frame the scene at right, with a white drapery featuring a bold blue crest at left. At lower left, a floral ornament decorates a hanging paper lantern. Beautifully detailed with a subtle burnished pattern in the dark gold obi, silver mica on the fan, and cloth embossing in the drapery. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
