Egawa Tarozaemon Playing the Koto - Handsome scene portraying Egawa Tarozaemon, a military advisor and progressive thinker who encouraged the Tokugawa Shogunate to modernize Japan's defenses prior to the arrival of Commodore Perry. Egawa is shown playing the koto for Tokugawa Nariaki, the Lord of Mito, who kneels on a cushion as he listens. Several beauties look on from behind a screen as right, peering through a fine reed blind. Beautifully drawn with fine detail.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)
Image Size - 12 7/8" x 8 3/4" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Light vertical centerfold. A few small holes, repaired. Slight toning, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
