Original Harunobu (1724 - 1770) Japanese Woodblock Print
Retuning Sails at Shinagawa, circa 1769
Series; Eight Fashionable Views of Edo
Retuning Sails at Shinagawa, circa 1769 - Rare original Harunobu design of a courtesan standing in a doorway, looking out the window beyond as she brushes her teeth. At lower right, a young attendant holds a basin, and a strange looking dog peers up at the beauty. Ships dot the water in the distance, with a pine tree framing the view at the bottom of the window. Beautifully drawn with graceful line work and wonderful detail in the architectural setting. A great opportunity to acquire an original woodblock by this ukiyo-e master.
