Beauties and Servant by Meiji era artist (unsigned)

Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauties and Servant

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of three beauties in conversation with a yakko or low-ranking servant. He stands at left, wearing a blue kimono with a striped collar and distinctive diamond-shaped crest indicating his status. The woman at bottom center holds a lamp up to him, a dismayed expression on her face. The beauty at upper right looks up from playing the koto to watch him solemnly, her lips tightly closed, while the third woman seems concerned. The verandah opens onto a garden with a stone lantern, the dark blue night sky framed by softly shaded cherry blossoms. Nice color and detail in the fabrics and setting.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)
Image Size - 18 ¾” x 14”
Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Two panels, attached. A couple pin point holes. A couple light creases. Nice overall.
