Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty with a Long Letter, 1851
Comments - Handsome kabuki design of a beauty standing in front of a curtained doorway, smiling with pleasure as she stretches a long letter between her hands. She wears a flowing pink kimono trimmed with a blue print, the fabric trailing onto the ground around her. Ornate carved wooden panels are visible on either side of the doorway, which is framed by colorful maple leaves above. An overturned lantern lies at lower left, dropped in her haste to read the message. An interesting design.
