Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Spring Cherry Blossoms
Comments - Lovely triptych depicting a group of beauties enjoying a spring day on a verandah overlooking a beautiful garden dotted with blossoming cherry trees. In the center, a woman dances, gracefully waving a fan as musicians accompany her on drum, flute, and shamisen. At right, a mother sits on the edge of the verandah, her young child leaning over her shoulder, reaching eagerly for the toys next to her. A woman pauses to listen while hanging a poem slip on the blooming cherry at far right. Wonderful detail in the garden setting, with a small waterfall in the distance flowing into a large pond framed by tall hills with steps leading up the sides. A charming and colorful scene.
