Warding off Evil Spirits - Fascinating triptych of the custom of warding off evil spirits during the festival of Setsubun in February, which takes place just before the first day of Spring. A man scatters roasted soybeans across the floor to chase away evil spirits and to welcome in good luck and prosperity for the New Year. Nice embossed detail on the women's kimono, with the red orange pigment of their robes oxidized to a darker tone. Includes burnishing on the black lacquer screen frame.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Small thinning spot at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a couple light creases. Please see photos for details.
