Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Struggling over a Banner

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a woman warrior and two samurai struggling over a banner. The beauty grabs the cloth with one hand, trying to pull in away as she grimaces at the samurai at upper left. He glares at her angrily, dressed in a red kimono patterned with a dragon, his short hair sticking up atop his head. The man below draws his sword as he eyes the woman steadily. Nice expressive figures detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)
Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight soiling and creasing. Please see photos for details.
