Prince Genji Enjoying the Evening Cool, 1865 by Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Prince Genji Enjoying the Evening Cool, 1865

Comments - Handsome scene of Prince Genji viewing fireworks from a pleasure boat. The young nobleman holds a glass goblet of sake as he looks over his shoulder, smiling as an explosion of red sparks lights up the night sky. A large paper lantern hangs overhead, and the river beyond is crowded with boats, including a large pleasure boat decorated with red paper lanterns. An attractive summer subject, with faint embossing in the ribs of the lantern overhead and bokashi shading in the water and sky.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)
Image Size - 14" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
