Confronting a Daimyo, 1854 by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Confronting a Daimyo, 1854

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a samurai confronting a daimyo, scowling angrily as he thrusts a tray at him. At right, the daimyo sits on a cushion atop a black lacquer platform, a worried expression on his face. He wears an elegant robe patterned with dragons and bands of clouds, an ornate pipe in his hand. Two other samurai watch from the left. Sliding panels lining the back of the room feature the same crest that appears on the shoulders of all the men. An interesting design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)
Image Size - 14" x 29 1/2"
Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. Small wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and marks. Please see photos for details.
