Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Azuma Bridge in Tokyo
Comments - Handsome view of the impressive steel Azuma Bridge over the Sumida River in Tokyo, which opened in 1887. The towering structure stretches over the water, packed with pedestrians. At lower right, a man in a purple cape and top hat pauses to admire the blossoming cherry trees, two soldiers standing nearby. A fascinating look at the first steel bridge in Tokyo, wonderfully detailed with vibrant color.
