Kiso Yoshinaka of Echigo Province Battles Shirojiro Nagamori - Terrific triptych depicting the forces of Kiso Yoshinaka (Minamoto no Yoshinaka) battling against Shirojiro Nagamori's troops. In the center, a warrior tumbles to the ground as his black horse kicks out its legs, sprawling headfirst on the ground, still clutching his spear. A samurai on a dappled horse follows in hot pursuit, gripping an enormous club with both hands. Behind them, warriors pour across a wooden bridge leading to a castle as attackers rush forward to meet them. A dynamic battle scene filled with energy and action. Great color and detail in this fantastic design. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
