Sawamura Tossho II as Kohagi, Actually Atsumori, 1872 - Great kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tossho II as Kohagi, who is actually the young Taira Prince Atsumori in disguise. He looks up over his shoulder with a slight grimace, a fan in his hand. He wears a lavender robe patterned with the Taira clan's butterfly crest over a print kimono over armor. A glowing lantern hangs from a bamboo pole at upper left, and turtles and a crane frame the title cartouche at upper right. Nicely detailed with embossing on the white kimono collar and the lantern.
