Nakakamura Fukusuke's Name Changing Ceremony, 1860 by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Nakakamura Fukusuke's Name Changing Ceremony, 1860

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene depicting the name changing ceremony of Nakamura Fukusuke I, who took the name Nakamura Shikan IV in 1860 at the Nakamura Theater. The actor kneels on a red mat with a fan in hand, his sword lying at his side. He looks up with a grin, wearing a blue kamishimo over a sheer black kimono. A decorative curtain across the top features two actor's crests. A handsome design of an unusual subject.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)
Image Size - 14 1/4" x 10" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Wormholes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, a few spots. Please see photos for details.
