Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864), 1855 Japanese Woodblock Print
Okon of the Aburaya, 1855
Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of the courtesan Okon of the Aburaya kneeling on the floor, looking up with a delighted smile as she throws her hands out at her sides. Behind her, a tiered household altar covered with straw matting holds an ornate oil lamp with six lights and trays of mochi (sticky rice cakes) and other offerings. A nice expressive figure with wonderful detail in the setting.
