Clearing Weather at Awazu, 1847 - 1852
Series; Eight Views of Omi
Clearing Weather at Awazu, 1847 - 1852 - Lovely scene of Prince Genij and his companions enjoying the cherry blossoms on a spring day at Awazu. The young nobleman sits on a bench beneath a flowering tree as petals drift down through the sky, grinning at the beauties accompanying him. The woman at left waves a happy greeting, her sleeve blowing in the breeze. In the center, a girl carries a fine lacquer tray with a few perfect blossoms on it. A castle can be seen at upper left, and sails dot the water in the distance. A beautiful design with wonderful detail. The first time we've offered this rare Kunisada II triptych, also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
