Beauty After a Bath by Eisho (active circa 1790 - 1799)

Eisho (active circa 1790 - 1799) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Beauty After a Bath

Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Charming, full-length portrait by Eisho of a young beauty after a bath, wearing a loose blue cotton kimono with a tie-dyed pattern in purple and white. She uses a pair of scissors to trim her nails, smiling to herself as she concentrates on her work. Lovely color and wonderful detail in this attractive design.

Artist - Eisho (active circa 1790 - 1799)
Image Size - 15 1/8" x 10" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at left edge from original publisher mounting. Please see photos for details.
