Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Heian Era Beauty
Comments - Charming portrait of a Heian era beauty, elegantly dressed in formal court attire. She wears an outer robe with a scene of islands dotted with palm trees and a fishing net strung out to dry, with a flock of plovers flying above the water, over a pair of full red pants, the long legs trailing beneath her feet. The background features a scattering of confetti-like shapes, with a border of clouds at the top edge.
