Ichikawa Danjuro IX as Kato Kiyomasa by Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Ichikawa Danjuro IX as Kato Kiyomasa

Comments - Interesting kabuki print featuring Ichikawa Danjuro IX as great warrior Kato Kiyomasa, talking to an elderly woman in an encampment outside a burning castle. Dressed in armor, he grips the elegant black lacquer handle of a naginata with both hands. The woman looks up with a grimace, clutching the edges of her outer kimono, as orange smoke pours up into the night sky. A handsome design, detailed with embossing in the woman's white kimono and hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)
Image Size - 14 1/8" x 27 1/2" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, a few marks. Please see photos for details.
