The Emperor Visiting Yasukuni Shrine by Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Original Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Japanese Woodblock Print
The Emperor Visiting Yasukuni Shrine

Comments - Handsome scene of the Meiji Emperor and members of the court visiting Yasukuni Shrine. The group is gathered in front of a torii gate, with the Emperor in the center wearing a black military uniform and hat trim with feathers. The Empress stands at right, a lady-in-waiting holding an umbrella above her, while a young prince can be seen at lower left. At upper left, a fountain sprays water into the air, and blossoming cherry trees dot the grounds. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black uniform and faint embossing on the white kimono.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)
Image Size - 13 7/8" x 28"
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with thick paper. Slight soiling and curling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
