Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Eastern Culture: Beauties Viewing the Moon, 1890
Comments - Lovely scene of beauties in a garden viewing the moon. At bottom center, a young woman crouches beside the edge of a pond, holding a wicker lantern as she gestures to her companion. At left, a walkway leads to a small pavilion on an island, the full moon glowing yellow in the evening sky above. At right, autumn grasses and blossoms grow alongside a lamppost beneath a willow tree. A charming beauties triptych, nicely detailed and shaded. The first time we've seen this Nobukazu design.
